Karen A. Raimer, M.D.
Program Director
Dr. Karen Raimer is the Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program and Assistant Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Raimer is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and received her medical training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. After a four-year residency program at the Alton Ochsner Foundation Hospital, she served as Clinical Professor at Louisiana State University in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was then awarded a two year fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Miami. Dr. Raimer is active in resident teaching with special interest in diabetes, ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis. She is currently an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Raimer is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Donna Hargrove, D.O.
Assistant Program Director
Dr. Donna Hargrove was born in Augusta, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor or Fine Arts in 1980. After changing from a career in horticulture, she received her medical degree from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996.

She completed a traditional medical internship at Suncoast Hospital, Largo, Florida in 1997, and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2001. During her residency she received rewards in research and pathology and was honored as outstanding resident of the year her junior year.

Dr. Hargrove is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to full time private practice with Bay Gynecological Associates, she serves as a full time faculty member and assistant medical director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program. She is responsible for the breast and colposcopy clinics and monthly journal club. She is an active member of the American Medical Association, Pinellas County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association, and the Florida Ob & Gyn Society.
Frank B. Marsalisi, M.D.
OB/GYN Dept Chairman
Dr. Frank Marsalisi is the Director of Gynecology and Pelvic Floor Disorders. Originally from New York, he preceded his medical degree from Michigan State University with two years of hypersensitivity diseases research. After completing his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of South Florida, he went on to fulfill his four-year commitment with the National Health Service Corp as Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Ruskin Migrant Community Health Center. At Ruskin, he was made a Clinical Assistant Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida. Dr. Marsalisi is responsible for supervising the residents' gynecology clinic, surgical experience and teaching in urodynamics. Dr. Marsalisi is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Marsalisi is currently the chairman for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
James P. LaPolla
Director of Gynecological Oncology
Dr. James P. LaPolla, Director of Gynecological Oncology received his degree in medicine from the University of Illinois. After completing a residency in Internal Medicine, Dr. LaPolla completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Los Angeles County, USC Medical Center where he subsequently completed a fellowship in Gynecological Oncology. Dr. LaPolla is board certified in Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is subspecialty certified in Gynecological Oncology. From 1991-1998, Dr. LaPolla served as the residency director at Bayfront Medical Center, and was previously an associate professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecological Oncology.
José A. Prieto
Resident Research Coordinator
Dr. Prieto completed his B.S. in Biology, Masters in Public Health, and received his medical degree at the University of Miami in 1990. Dr. Prieto completed his residency program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston-LBJ General Hospital, where he received the honor of Outstanding Chief Resident his final year. Dr. Prieto completed his fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science. Dr. Prieto is Assistant Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine with the Bayfront Medical Center Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. His areas of interest include ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Prieto is the current coordinator for resident research. Current medical student clerkship obstetrical coordinator.
Robert O. Chamberlin, M.D.
Dr. Chamberlin received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1982. He subsequently completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bayfront Medical Center in 1986, and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Chamberlin teaches general obstetrics and gynecology, is the coordinator for primary care, and supervises the gynecology clinic, mid-risk obstetric clinic and gynecologic surgery. He is currently a reviewer for the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. Current medical student clerkship gynecological coordinator.
Edward A. Zbella, M.D.
Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Dr. Zbella completed his medical degree in 1980 at the University of Illinois. In 1984, he completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Chicago. Subsequently at Michael Reese Hospital, he completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Zbella is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and serves as the Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Bayfront Medical Center's Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program. Dr. Zbella has a special interest in operative laparoscopy and assisted reproductive techniques. He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and several chapters in medical textbooks. Dr. Zbella is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida and serves as an instructor at numerous postgraduate courses in this area.
Mark D. Sanchez, M.D.
Dr. Sanchez graduated from the University of South Florida in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. He subsequently attended the University of Florida College of Medicine, and graduated in 1995 with a Doctorate in Medicine. From 1995 to 1999 Dr. Sanchez performed his Internship and Residency at Bayfront Medical Center where he received several honors and awards including outstanding laparoscopic surgeon. Following his residency, Dr. Sanchez completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of South Florida where he presently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor.

He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists. Special interests include: diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, Müllerian anomalies and estrogen receptor physiology. Dr. Sanchez is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and subspecialty certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Marilyn Fudge, M.D.
Dr. Fudge is a native Floridian, born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Fudge graduated from the University of Florida in 1990 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology. She subsequently attended the University of Florida College of Medicine and graduated in 1998 with a Doctor of Medicine Degree. In 2002 she completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Bayfront Medical Center where she received numerous awards. She was honored as outstanding resident of the year in her intern and chief years. Dr. Fudge serves as one of the supervising physicians on labor and delivery.
